Sogliano Cavour is located in the heart of Salento, allowing you to quickly reach any seaside town on both the Ionian and Adriatic coasts.
On the Ionian side of the Salento coast, you’ll find mostly shallow, sandy seabeds, as well as the beauty of the Mediterranean scrub and the turquoise hues of the crystal-clear sea.
Among the must-see stops are Punta Prosciutto north of Porto Cesareo, Torre San Giovanni, Santa Maria di Leuca, and Gallipoli—areas where you’ll find some of the most beautiful beaches in all of Salento. Also not to be missed are Torre Suda, Baia Verde, Torre Lapillo, Lido Marini, Torre Pali, Torre Vado, and the world-famous Pescoluse, better known as the “Maldives of Salento”.

The other side of the coast, facing the Adriatic Sea, is characterized mainly by cliffs—in some places so high they take your breath away, and in others low and easily accessible. However, there is no shortage of small, hidden sandy coves and a sea that remains, as always, pristine and crystal-clear.
Among the must-see places are undoubtedly Otranto, the beaches of Torre Rinalda and San Cataldo, Santa Cesarea Terme, Castro, Porto Badisco, Torre dell’Orso, Tricase Porto, the marinas of Lecce, and the spectacular Ponte Ciolo. Not to mention the numerous protected areas, the fascinating caves to explore, and the charming historic centers that frame all of this. Sogliano Cavour (Σουḍḍιάνα, Suḍḍiàna, or even Sughiàna in Griko, Sughiànu in the Salento dialect, known as Sogliano until 1862) is an Italian municipality with 3,905 inhabitants in the province of Lecce in Apulia.

Located in the inland region of the Salento peninsula, halfway between the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic Sea, it lies 25 km south of the provincial capital. At the beginning of the 19th century, together with Cutrofiano, Cursi, Cannole, and the present-day municipalities of Grecìa Salentina, it was part of the Decatría Choría (τα Δεκατρία Χωρία)—that is, the thirteen towns of Terra d’Otranto that preserved the Greek language and traditions.
The most convenient way to explore Salento is undoubtedly by car. If you’ve arrived by plane or train and don’t have a car to get around, the best solution is to rent one.

Not just cars, but bikes, too. Salento is, in fact, a region waiting to be discovered and largely unspoiled. What better choice, then, than to opt for a cycling tour, getting around while staying in touch with nature?

If you’ve decided to make the trip by car, once you’re there, getting from one town to another will be quite easy.

The inland area, in fact, is well connected to both coasts (the Ionian and the Adriatic), and you can choose whether to take the coastal road to be enchanted by the surrounding landscape, or take the state highway for a smoother ride.

If you choose to come to Salento by train, you’ll arrive at the Lecce station. From there, you can decide whether to
