The location is excellent; right close to the market. It was about a 20 minute walk from the train and bus station. The terrace was the reason we chose the apartment and it was very nice to sit and relax. The apartment was clean and it had nice fresh white towels to use. There is a coffee maker with a generous amount of pods. The owner was very nice and let us arrive earlier than the regulat check in time and also stay past the check out time. We really appreciated it.

The shower is very small and the two sets of stairs in the apartment would not handle large people. Didn't like the shower at all but the stairs are kind of quirky and part of the charm of an older building. The water pressure was very poor. The first morning we really had no water for a proper shower and the washing machine did not have enough pressure to operate. This is not the owners fault but it is something to be aware of. If you get a place in Ortiga you need to know you can be without water as there can be low water pressure and frequent outages in Ortigia, the historic center of Syracuse, Sicily. Its caused by aging, leaking infrastructure and major pipeline breaks across the city's network. The TV in the bedroom was missing but it was okay without it. When we arrived to the apartment Google Maps led us through an unattractive walk. It was not a good impression. After we walked around the island a bit we discovered a much better route and our impression changed in regards to the apartment location and Ortiga itself. At first we thought 5 nights would be too much and in the end we felt we could have stayed even longer. Its a beautiful place.

Prachtig en ruim huis in het centrum van Ortigia. Met als kers op de taart een heerlijk dakterras. Waar je heerlijk kon zitten. Ligging van het huis was gunstig en dichtbij Talete parking. Huis was keurig schoon. Bed was comfortabel. Contact met eigenaar via WhatsApp was zakelijk maar doeltreffend.

Alles was prima. Navigeren met Google maps in Ortigia is soms wat lastig. Huis had iets sfeervoller kunnen zijn met wat meer decoratie en schilderijen.

This is a quirky 3 level apartment for the truly young at heart. It’s in a quiet area BUT there is so much construction in these old areas of Sicily-we found it everywhere- we were woken at 7am with scaffolding outside our bedroom window each morning. 1.5 bathrooms is a bonus. The terrace is nice but stairs make it hard to get to and needs a bit more TLC-comfy seats/shade. Easy key access, kind yet remote attention from host Sebastiano , and an appropriate price point.
