We had a very pleasant family stay at Meliá Dunas Beach Resort & Spa. The resort is spacious, the swimming pools are beautiful, and the overall setting is perfect for a relaxing holiday with a young child. We particularly appreciated the facilities, the all-inclusive concept, and the opportunity to enjoy quality time together as a family. The atmosphere was enjoyable, and the resort offered plenty of space to relax and unwind. Overall, it was a lovely holiday experience and a good choice for families looking for a comfortable beach resort.
The main area for improvement was the food. Although the variety was reasonable, we found the overall quality and flavours somewhat disappointing, especially compared with our expectations for a resort of this standard. As a Moroccan family who does not eat pork, we also found that many dishes contained pork or were not suitable for us, which sometimes limited our choices. We would have appreciated a wider selection of clearly labelled, pork-free options, as well as more variety in well-seasoned meat, chicken, fish, and traditional dishes. Improving the food quality and catering to guests with different dietary requirements would make the overall experience much better.

Strand und Meer: Das Meer ist wunderschön und auch der Sandstrand ist schön. Die Liegen am Strand sind zwar etwas weit vom Meer entfernt, ansonsten ist der Strand aber in Ordnung.
Restaurants: Die meisten Restaurants, die wir im All-inclusive-Angebot besucht haben, waren gut. Besonders das afrikanische Restaurant und das Steakhouse haben uns gefallen.
Einkaufsmöglichkeiten: Die Produkte in den Läden vor Ort waren zwar überteuert, aber grundsätzlich in Ordnung.
- Hotelzustand: Das Hotel ist deutlich renovationsbedürftig. Viele Sonnenschirme am Pool waren beschädigt und hatten kaum noch Bespannung, sodass sie nur wenig Schatten spendeten und die Sonne trotzdem ständig auf einen schien.
- Pools: Es gibt zu wenig Platz für die Anzahl Gäste. Ausserdem lagen ständig Getränkebecher herum, teilweise sogar im Pool. Mit einer Poolbar direkt daneben ist es unangenehm, zwischen Getränkeresten und Bier zu schwimmen.
- Personal: Das Personal wirkte oft emotionslos und wenig herzlich. Es wurde zwar gearbeitet und serviert, aber Freundlichkeit, persönliche Gespräche und ein sympathischer Umgang fehlten uns.
- Handtuchservice: Wir mussten zu viert drei Tage lang mit nur einem Tuch auskommen. Trotz ungefähr sieben Nachfragen erhielten wir erst am dritten Tag neue Handtücher. Ich verbrachte sogar eine Stunde an der Rezeption. Wasserprobleme wären verständlich gewesen, wenn man uns ehrlich informiert hätte. Stattdessen wurden wir immer wieder vertröstet.
- Restaurant Spices: Beim Frühstück hatten wir kleine Insekten im Müsli. Das war unhygienisch und hat unseren Eindruck vom Restaurant deutlich verschlechtert.
- VIP-Upgrade: Das Hotel versucht, Gästen ein VIP-Upgrade zu verkaufen. Unserer Erfahrung nach bringt es jedoch kaum einen Mehrwert und lohnt sich nicht.
- Umgebung: Auf der Insel Sal gibt es relativ wenig zu entdecken. Dadurch waren unsere Ferien insgesamt eher eintönig und es fehlte an Abwechslung und Ausflugsmöglichkeiten.
