About this apartment rental
In our industrial style loft we have an amazing view of Detroit Skyline and Canada. It is located in a central location roughly 5-10 mins from the casinos, bars, Downtown, Midtown and Corktown. Our location is very spacious, has cozy beds, a comfy couch and a amazing view of the river.

We stayed here while in town for a Tigers game. The unit is in a very old building near the river. Great view and easy walk to the river. Overall the stay was fine. The unit is clean and building secure. Our only issue was the temperature in the unit. Single pane glass windows and a single, small window a/c unit. The unit was very hot. There are several fans, they do a great job of moving warm air. The only true bedroom has no ventilation, just a large fan blowing.

Upon arrival, we had difficulty communicating with the owner. There had been a payment issue but VRBO never told us & any messages the owner was sending never came through. The link to the page that was supposed to contain instructions was broken. We had to contact VRBO and get them to contact the owner, only to find out we had to process a payment to get access. Note - the outside of the building and the parking areas are POORLY maintained. The gated parking is wild. People park any sort of way and the gate does not close or lock. We then had to locate a lock box and get the key to the building front door. Only having one key to the front door was inconvenient with 2 people w/ separate schedules. Once inside, we discovered there was only a freight elevator and it couldn't be used because there was no one there to crank it even though we arrived during office hours. The manager in the office was less than nice.
We lugged out bags up the entry stairs and the 2 flights of stairs to our floor. Operating the door pad lock was easy and the loft itself is beautiful. The loft is spacious and clean. The window unit could be bigger and the person who sleeps hot should sleep in the living room bed as there is only a fan in the front bedroom. There is a loft bed but the access ladders are for young folks.
There was a strong smell of weed in the building, if you are sensitive, take that into consideration.
Overall the loft is in a GREAT location, well priced, and we enjoyed our stay.

The check in process was work. Having to go find the lockbox to enter a code and then get into the building. The door was based on a code and not key for the actual apartment. When it didn’t work, the host was able to unlock and lock electronically. They waited until we left to come and check the battery to give us privacy which was appreciated. When they were able to get to the item, they discovered a shortage on the code box. So she answered my 430am call to get us into the apt otherwise we would have SOL. The apt itself had scorching HOT water when you tried to do cold water. The hot water was hot as well but less hot than what was supposed to be the cold water. During this weekend where the temperature was 95 the last thing we wanted to do was burn ourselves in a shower that was supposed to be refreshing. There was ac but again it was just to hot outside for the 1 window unit to do any justice since everything was off when we got to the apt and it would take time for the whole open space to be cooler.
