First of all Karen is an excellent host and is very easy to communicate with, and she answers emails almost immediately. The house does sit up on a cliff above the RR and the New River, however, in Summer you cannot see the trains or the river. Maybe in early Spring or late Fall when there are no leaves on the trees the view is amazing, but in Summer, all you see is trees. The trains were not a problem as they did not run during the night. However, driving up that narrow steep road and driveway lane is an adventure! The house is old and quirky (yes, the floors are crooked!), and needs some updates, but was clean, the water is excellent tasting, and the little waterfall creek behind the house is charming. The property is on a wooded hill, so exploring is difficult, but there are many designated cleared trails in the area in NRGNP and state parks, many with waterfalls. The kitchen was adequately stocked, but could use some new items. (I'm actually sending her some essential baking and cooking tools-- measuring cups, spoons, bowls.) The washer and dryer is a plus as I hate packing dirty clothes to bring home! We sat on the front porch and on the deck/patio to relax after one day at WV Renaissance Festival and 2 days of hiking waterfall trails. The only serious problem we had was with the rental agency, not Karen, but she straightened it out to our satisfaction.

We really enjoyed Cozy and Crooked on the Cliff. The little house is older. but we felt right at home. Quiet and peaceful with a view of the mountains. We especially enjoyed the front deck which was fenced in so that our dogs could be out there with us. I loved the earthy vibe it had, pictures of Morel mushrooms, books about reptiles, and lots of cool rocks. Close to Sandstone Falls. The views are stunning and would be just as beautiful in the fall! Thank you for the peaceful visit.

Built in 1902 this 3 bedroom 1 bath cozy little gem overlooks the river in a panoramic fashion. It's sits on top of the hill just above the river, on a dead end street, but still only moments from I-64. It's in the perfect location to see any end of the New River Gorge National Park, is hidden in plain sight, and is located just outside the park boundaries. The house is a little crooked but very charming. It has plenty of utensils, cast iron skillets, and spices to cook or grill, best well water around, black out shades, wifi, games, large yard, covered porch overlooking the river, and many more… also new I started to build a trail that leads into the woods behind the property but they aren’t completely done however you may explore around hill behind you and the surrounding fields and don’t forget to look at all the fossils everywhere. You will enjoy waking up and seeing the river before your feet even hit the floor, having your coffee on the porch in the mornings, watching eagles and other birds, deer, and the abundance of other wildlife in our park, also playing and exploring with your family. Pets are welcome and will enjoy lots of space to play. I provide puppy towels and a pooper scooper. The large front porch has a gate so your furry friend has options for going outside to lay in the sun. It really is a hidden gem. Some guest services available. Please note it’s a narrow drive in and not suitable for large trucks uhauls or trailers.
