About this apartment rental
Nestled in a rural setting yet just a few minutes from the town of Sulmona and all amenities, the apartment is located on the first floor of a villa next to the Abbey of S. Spirito al Morrone and the hermitage of Celestine V.
It features a spacious living area that opens directly onto an east-facing porch, where it’s very pleasant to dine during the warmer months, while in winter it offers a sheltered spot to enjoy the warm rays of the sun (and fantastic sunsets!).
The kitchen-living room is well-equipped with an induction cooktop, fridge/freezer, electric oven, dishwasher, pantry, a 6-seat table, a double sofa bed, and a 55-inch LED TV. It has 2 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, one of which is for the exclusive use of one of the bedrooms. Both are equipped with a toilet, bidet, large showers, and vanity units with drawers (one bathroom has a double sink). All windows are equipped with mosquito screens. The property features state-of-the-art, independent heating and air conditioning systems.
The outdoor spaces are very spacious: large flower beds perfect for relaxing, a fenced-in area with two swings, and a soccer field with regulation-size goals. Ample parking is available on the property, including one covered parking space. A small grocery store, bar, and tobacco shop are 300 meters away. Other amenities are a 5- to 10-minute drive away. Relaxation is guaranteed here, but thanks to its excellent location, Rosso Mattone Country House is an ideal starting point for fantastic excursions in the Maiella National Park (whose offices are located inside the Abbey, which is also open to visitors) and for exploring the many nearby attractions, the historic center of Sulmona—home to the Roman poet Ovid and famous for its confetti—the picturesque hilltop, lakeside, and mountain villages, the ski slopes, museums, and the splendid and unmissable “Transiberiana d’Abruzzo,” which departs weekly from the Sulmona train station, an 8-minute drive from Rosso Mattone. The apartment was well-appointed, comfortable, and very clean. It is just as pictured on the Vrbo site, and felt very safe. The owner, Barbara, is friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

We loved the property, it was great to wake up in the morning and see the mountains first thing. The host, Barbara, also offered a pickup and drop off at the train station which was great because the apartment was quite a ways away. The hosts were super accommodating and the room had everything we needed for a comfortable stay! The only thing I would say to keep in mind is that the apartment is about an hour walk from sulmona, so it’s a good idea to rent a car or bring bikes for transportation, although the bus does come a few times a day:) thanks for having us!

This apartment is AMAZING! It is even nicer than the pictures show. Beautiful location, good access to Sulmona, and other places. Near grocery store and other services. Very quiet and peaceful. Better than 5 stars.
