A disappointing experience, with confusing instructions, poor maintenance and an apartment well belo

The one genuinely positive aspect of this property is its location. It is within approximately five minutes' walk of the Arena, the main squares and piazzas, with plenty of cafés and bars nearby. It is an excellent base for exploring Verona. Unfortunately, a good location cannot compensate for the poor condition of the apartment and the disappointing overall experience. I cannot, therefore, give this property anything other than a poor review.

1. Online check-in process Online check-in was tedious, requiring multiple entries and passport scans. Completing this without suitable technology while travelling could be difficult. 2. Key collection and instructions Keys were collected elsewhere. Instructions were confusing, spread across numerous emails with maps and photographs. One email requested an access code but failed to provide it. 3. Lack of signage No signage identified Gabriel’s Place in the building, corridors, stairs or apartment entrance, apart from a welcome sign on the door. Finding it was unnecessarily difficult. 4. Apartment not ready on arrival The apartment was unprepared, with unmade beds, used towels and no changeover cleaning completed. 5. Cleaning arrangements and waiting time The owner apologised and arranged a cleaner, who was pleasant and polite. However, cleaning took two hours, leaving us waiting in Verona after travelling. No compensation or gesture was offered. 6. Standard and condition of the apartment The apartment was tired and poorly maintained. The toilet seat was loose and falling off, with visible dirt and stains around the bath. Considerable attention was needed. 7. Checkout arrangements I requested a two-hour extension following our delayed check-in. Being told we were lucky no other guests were arriving felt inappropriate given our experience. 8. Wi-Fi and key return Wi-Fi did not work, leaving me reliant on mobile data outside. Key return was equally confusing, searching numerous emails containing inconsistent instructions and missing codes. 9. Overall experience Extremely disappointing throughout. Complicated instructions, an unprepared apartment, poor maintenance and inadequate facilities fell below reasonable expectations. Apologies were appreciated but did little to compensate for the inconvenience.
