Shower and bed was amazing, staff was friendly , helpful and competent. The area was quiet but had good restaurants and combinis nearby as well as many easy connections to other interesting locations.
A general issue in japanese hotels seems to be sound insolation, so if your neighbours are loud you may have your sleep disturbed. Lack of clothing storage, which also seems to be a general issue.

The room was spacious, the beds were extremely comfortable, and the décor was superb. The sinks were part of the main bedroom, but the layout was so well designed that using them didn't disturb the other person. They could also be hidden behind a blind, which was a clever touch.
The toilet and shower were in separate rooms, which was perfect when we were both getting ready in the morning before heading out for another day of exploring Kyoto.
The hotel staff were incredibly friendly, attentive and helpful, always greeting us with a smile and ready to assist.
The location was also very convenient, with subway and bus stops nearby. Nijo Castle is just a 15-minute walk away, making it a great base for sightseeing. There's also a large supermarket about 10 minutes away on foot, which was very handy.
The main downside was the lack of facilities. I believe they only offer breakfast, and the bar closes at 6pm every day. They do, however, offer free self-service drinks, including sake, wine, tea and coffee, which is a nice touch.
But the lack of other services makes it a bit inconvenient when you want a drink at night or a light breakfast to take away in the morning, as you always have to find a shop or café nearby.

For our first time in Japan, this property was by far our favorite stay in all the hotels we stayed in. The location is perfect and the hotel is beautiful.
Only downside was no on property laundry but the staff gave instructions for a nearby laundry location that was one street over.

It was spotlessly clean and the staff were very attentive.
Location was a little isolated. Quite difficult to find decent restaurants in the evenings. Breakfast was ok but no more and there was little storage space to hang clothes.
