The owners did a really good job upgrading a retro motor inn with modern decor. While we didn't use them, i can see the fire pit (stocked with wood), pickleball, and basketball courts really being a draw from many folks. We liked the location -- it was near the dunes and the breweries of Michigan City. The room was super clean.
There were a handful of smaller things we found mildly frustrating. As others have noted, the rooms are really dark. Our bathroom had a sulphur smell -- I assume from the water. There was no outlet in the bathroom (where the mirror is), so using a hairdryer or electric shaver was tough. Our bathroom door didn't shut completely.
While it didn't bother us, you should know that the motel is situated between a country highway and railroad tracks. The road isn't loud, but you do hear the trains going by.
