10 min walk from the train station, more if you stop to take photos of all the deer you meet on the way, the western breakfast was delicious, the mattress was a little too hard for me, but perfect for my husband. The room was very spacious, the bathroom a little small, but nice! 5 minute walk to Nara park - get deer crackers early as they sell out, but be careful the deer are hanging out right by the sales points 😂

The hotel was in a great location to enjoy Nara and the gorgeous deers. Enjoyed being able experience Nara after all the day trippers have left. One of my favourite memories of our trip to Japan was watching the sunset from the deck with the deer eating grass nearby. Easy walk into town for restaurant options for lunch and dinner. We upgraded to the mountain view room which was huge and one of the best showers I had in Japan.
Great hotel, nothing needed to change.

Check in staff was a little nonchalant. For our two nights stay, we thought we could book breakfast at the hotel on arrival - booking.com website did not indicate room with breakfast option was available. Wanted to book breakfast for the next morning but staff said breakfast was sold out. He did not offer any suggestion on how we may get our breakfast and I thought it was fully sold out for the two mornings we were there. Luckily I asked about availability for the second morning and only then did he said it was available. And then mentioned that coffee and bread are available for ala carte order if we wanted a simple breakfast.
Also, he wasn’t very engaged when we asked him to help book a restaurant for dinner - just said can do online reservation. We then insisted that he help us call and book as we weren’t sure how to online in Japanese. He finally relented. He wasn’t rude or anything- just so disengaged and not welcoming of guests on arrival.
