Arrived to house dirty from previous guests (urine, sick and dirty bed linen) and host is being as difficult as possible

Property was in great location for a wedding at Le Petit Chateau

We arrived to find that the house had not been cleaned from the previous guests who had left a week ago (as host informed us)… absolutely disgusting with urine around the toilets on the bathroom floor, shaved hair covering the bath, dried sick in one of the sinks and dirty bed linen everywhere. Host was not aware. We were then not able to check in until 7pm when the house had been cleaned, which totally ruined our first night as we had planned to stay in the house and cook and had already bought food. One of our party lost income as he was planning to work remotely at the property and we had to go out while the house was cleaned (there are very limited options for pubs in the area and WiFi was not good). Some guests had driven 6+ hours to arrive at the property and were eager to shower and relax etc ahead of the wedding the following day but could not. Host did not communicate well, had to chase for an eta on when the house would be ready after hearing nothing for 1.5 hours. Host said the hot tub had been cleaned by a different company after we raised our concern about it not being clean but could not confirm how she knew the hot tub had been cleaned and ignored our message querying this. Some guests were understandably skeptical considering she didn’t know the house hadn’t been cleaned until we called her and didn’t feel comfortable using the hot tub for the rest of the stay (which was the whole reason we booked this place). The WiFi also didn’t work upstairs (so none of the TVs connect to Netflix etc), we raised this and the host said there’d never been an issue before but I see other reviews have also mentioned this. Host offered £120 cleaning fee back, we refused as this works out at £15pp for 8 guests which we did not feel was adequate when our entire first day/night was ruined.

Very enjoyable weekend with family.

Location was excellent, ideal for local walks. The house was large enough for the 6 visitors however it would be restrictive if fully occupied by 8 guests. A great hot tub and nice spacious garden. Excellent takeaway from Happy Valley also great Sunday lunch at the black bull.

In need of a little update with regards to the sofa which did not seat 6 people comfortably.

Lovely family getaway enjoyed by all ages.
