The property itself is absolutely stunning, the most beautifully preserved building which retains all the charm and character of the original structure with enough modern features to make it feel like a luxurious getaway. The host, Ali, was lovely - welcoming but not at all intrusive. She had provided some really thoughtful welcoming items including bread, milk, biscuits, teacakes and fruit and the cupboards were all well stocked with basics. The setting is remote but as we had transport, for which there was ample parking, that wasn’t an issue at all. A great folder of suggested things to do and places to eat had clearly been curated carefully and we enjoyed each of the places we tried from these folder. I would not hesitate to recommend The Retreat and have already passed on the details to several friends.

Everything! Ali was a lovely host, so welcoming and helpful. The setting is very relaxing, private and a real 'retreat'. We had the most lovely few days celebrating our anniversary!
