Good value for money for short stays but for longer the building’s unserviced facilities may become an inconvenience

The property was clean and comfortable, would definitely book again.

There’s a lack of maintenance in the building as it’s 15 floors but only one elevator works with the others not having been serviced in maybe years. Also once you’ve entered the building and found parking the elevator’s also on work in the buildings garage so you have to take the stairs back to the ground floor and re-enter the building whenever you’d like to go out or come back in.

Elevator not working. Long staircase

The views

I was very disappointed with my stay. The hotel failed to inform me before check-in that the elevator was out of service. As a result, I had to climb the stairs all the way to the 15th floor while carrying my suitcases. This caused significant pain in my knee, and the exertion left me needing my asthma pump, which my boyfriend had to bring to me. Had I been informed in advance, I would have made different arrangements or chosen another hotel. The lack of communication showed little consideration for guests' health and accessibility. I hope the hotel improves its communication in situations like this so that other guests don't have the same experience.

Moderately risky apartment in a dangerous part of town

My primary reason for booking this location was the view. From the 15th floor, we were able to see a wide expanse of the Joberg city. And from the oversized bathtub and from the raised bed, the view ourside our windows satisfied that craving.

Unfortunately, our stay was not very pleasant, and I feel it’s important to share the details so other guests can make an informed decision. When we entered the room, it smelled of smoke and mold. There was no soap provided at all — not even a basic bar of soap. The toilet paper roll was almost finished, which was inconvenient. Inside the wardrobe, we found recently-washed bed linens that were still soaking wet and hung there to dry. There, we also found the only two towels in the place, still wet from the washing machine. We tried running them through dryer cycle, but it did not work. In the end, we had to use a kitchen towel to dry ourselves after showering — without soap. The bedding was polyester, which creates static electricity every time you roll over. This was uncomfortable so we slept fully clothed and avoided direct contact with the bedding. The carpet was visibly dirty and covered in stains. The grey leather sofa looked somewhat okay from a distance, but it did not feel clean enough to sit on. Wi-Fi was inoperable during our stay. Router was on but no connection to the internet. There were two refrigerators but one had an appalling smell and we were afraid to investigate the source. There were no curtains at all, which meant no way to block out street light or noise at night. The front door frame had a noticeable gap between the frame and the wall, making it possible to see into the room through the crack, which raised privacy and safety concerns. Additionally, the neighborhood looked unsafe for European tourists, and although there was a parking garage with gate and attendant… the gate remained open all night and there was no attendant when we left.
