About this house rental
Even the arrival itself helps you slow down, as the typical narrow streets are car-free. You can still conveniently unload your luggage just 150 meters away and park your car for free in town. Upon arriving at the house, the breathtaking view of the valley welcomes every guest.
You enter the house at street level through the hallway, which leads to the upper bedroom, the kitchen-diner, and the shower room. The upper bedroom is furnished with two single beds, which can also be pushed together to form a double bed. Just like in the cozy kitchen-diner next door, the windows offer an unobstructed view down into the valley over gardens and rooftops. A large open fireplace invites you to enjoy cozy evenings by the crackling fire, even in the colder months.
Down the stairs is the master bedroom. With historic terracotta floors and exposed chestnut beams, you can drift off to sleep here in the high-quality box-spring bed. Here, too, you can enjoy the view of the valley as you wake up. The solid, 70-centimeter-thick exterior walls keep the nights cool without the noise of an air conditioner.
On the lowest floor, if not sooner, the charm and authenticity of the centuries-old L’Uva Fragolina truly come to life. A staircase carved into the rock leads to the garden room, which features another dining table and access to the private garden.
Here, the air is filled with the scent of Mediterranean herbs, flowers, and ripe figs. The terrace is covered by a pergola where delicious table grapes—the eponymous “Uva Fragolina”—climb. The sweeping view over the lower part of the village and the valley into the rolling countryside invites you to enjoy an aperitivo.
The house is ideal not only for nature lovers and those seeking peace and quiet, but also for sports enthusiasts and culture seekers. With Volterra (35 km), San Gimignano (55 km), and Siena (65 km), some of the region’s outstanding tourist destinations are within easy reach. Florence is also a great option for a day trip.
The nearest places to swim are the famous thermal baths in Sasso Pisano (10 km), where sulfur-rich thermal springs flow. Unspoiled rivers, such as the Cecina near Radicondoli or at Masso degli Specchi, are just as inviting for swimming as the highly recommended beach in the Gulf of Baratti (55 km).
