Fab!! Would visit again

Gorgeous location, very cosy and peaceful, kitten was adorable

Only thing I’d say is they could do with the addition of a bathroom bin & soap in the Bathroom. Also, some thicker pillows. But defo wanna go visit again

Shocking!!

Absolutely disgraceful experience. We booked this property through Booking.com, paid in full, and the money had already left our account before we arrived. We checked in around 7:30pm, were welcomed by the host, carried all our luggage inside, unpacked, and had just bought groceries and steaks to cook dinner. I was travelling with my partner and 9-year-old son. Around 30 minutes after we'd checked in, there was a knock at the door. We were told the property had been double-booked because another reservation had come through EirBnB about 10 minutes before ours and that "the systems are supposed to be linked." What happened next was completely unacceptable. Instead of contacting the people who hadn't even arrived yet, we were asked to pack up all our belongings and leave the property we had booked, paid for, and already checked into. We were expected to do this with a young child at 7:30 in the evening while we were literally about to cook our dinner. The only suggestion made was, "The Belmont Hotel is down the road if you need somewhere." There was no actual alternative accommodation arranged, no practical help offered, and no consideration for the fact that we'd already checked in and our money was tied up in this booking, leaving us out of pocket through no fault of our own. Mistakes happen, but once paying guests have checked in, they should never be the ones expected to leave because of a booking system failure. The people who hadn't even arrived should have been the ones contacted. Instead, the inconvenience was passed entirely onto us. This is the second time I've experienced a double-booking through Booking.com, but this was by far the worst way I've seen it handled. It was unprofessional, incredibly stressful, and completely ruined our trip. I would not book this property again.

Despite what should have been the start of a relaxing trip turning into a complete nightmare, there was one huge positive. After being forced to leave this property, we eventually found somewhere else late that evening. The host at Gleann Ciuin went above and beyond to help us at such short notice. We finally got to cook the dinner we'd bought at around 10:30pm, but their kindness and hospitality completely turned the night around. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in the Mournes, I can't recommend Gleann Ciuin highly enough. It's a beautifully converted one-bedroom space nestled at the foot of the stunning Mourne Mountains, with gorgeous views, luxury accommodation, and, most importantly, hosts who genuinely care about their guests. After the evening we'd had, their welcome meant so much. Thank you for rescuing what could have been a completely ruined trip.
