Property:
In the northeast of the island of Rügen, you’ll find the Wellenläufer vacation home in the old fishing village of Glowe. The property offers the perfect starting point for a relaxing island vacation. Just 400 meters away, you’ll find the 10-kilometer-long Schaabe Beach—the most beautiful beach Rügen has to offer for all kinds of water activities and for sunbathers alike. In addition, in 2011, thousands of locals and tourists built the world’s longest sandcastle here. At 27.5 kilometers long, this record is likely to stand for several years.
Glowe is also a popular destination for boaters and anglers, and in the evenings, the small seaport enchants visitors with magnificent sunsets that bathe the sea in vibrant colors.
West of Glowe, the Schaabe strait leads to the Wittow Peninsula, whose northernmost point is Cape Arkona—the place with the most hours of sunshine in Germany. The famous lighthouses and the cliffs are very popular with visitors.
In the northeast of Rügen lies the Jasmund Peninsula with the national park of the same name. Although it is Germany’s smallest national park, there is plenty to explore. The magnificent beech forests are part of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, and along the coast you’ll find the striking chalk cliffs, which have long been the island’s landmark. Königsstuhl and Viktoriasicht are popular photo spots and attract hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. At the National Park Center, you can learn interesting facts about the formation of the chalk cliffs and the island’s flora and fauna.
To the south, the port city of Sassnitz borders the national park. The upper town and the harbor are connected by an impressive pedestrian bridge. Once you reach the bottom, you can stroll along the harbor promenade, enjoy fresh fish in a maritime atmosphere, and admire Germany’s longest outer pier.
So if you’re looking to enjoy a peaceful and sunny island vacation with easy access to Rügen’s top attractions, then the Wellenreiter vacation home in Glowe is the perfect place for you!
