Disappointed, cups and cutlery where not clean. Code for the key safe was incorrect and struggled to get in contact with

The holiday park is nice and quiet with decent facilities.

Bedding in the main bedroom was dirty, stained and didn’t smell clean.

Absolutely abysmal do not waste your money

Nothing

⭐ 1 STAR — DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY This has been one of the most disappointing holiday stays we have ever experienced. We arrived expecting a clean, comfortable and properly maintained lodge, but unfortunately the reality was completely different. The lodge is dirty, poorly maintained and clearly in need of refurbishment. There is a strong musty smell, dirty kitchen utensils, ripped nets and wallpaper hanging off the walls. The overall condition immediately gave the impression that the accommodation had not been properly looked after. Several things are also either broken or not functioning properly. The microwave does not work, the fire/heater does not work, the heating only comes on at certain times despite the lodge being freezing, and the oven is very unreliable. These are basic facilities that we should reasonably expect to be working. The bed is unbelievably uncomfortable — it genuinely feels like sleeping on springs — so we have not been able to get a decent night’s sleep either. What makes this even more frustrating is that we have paid good money for this stay and instead of relaxing and enjoying our holiday, we have spent our time dealing with problems with the accommodation. This is not a case of expecting luxury. We simply expected the lodge to be clean, warm, comfortable and have working facilities. Unfortunately, it fails on all of these basic points. We are extremely unhappy with the condition of the lodge and will be contacting Booking.com to make a formal complaint and request appropriate compensation/refund, as we do not feel the accommodation provided is an acceptable standard for what we paid. The holiday has genuinely been spoiled by the condition of this lodge. We would absolutely not stay here again and cannot recommend it to anyone in its current condition. Before booking, I would strongly recommend checking recent reviews and asking exactly what condition the lodge is currently in.

A perfect base for exploring the North East. The hot tub is a great addition to the Lodge

The hot tub makes the Lodge a great place to stay

The beds are uncomfortable and could do with replacing. The bed linen, crockery and cooking utensils need a refresh

10 / 10

Great place lovely location had everything that we needed definitely come back again

The only thing the WiFi wasn’t working. But didn’t spoil our stay
