The location is great. The room was very big and the bathtub lovely. The bed was big and comfortable.
The courtyard is ugly without the expected garden feel. The breakfast was underwhelming. The indoor pool area a bit messy, small and dark, the sauna smelled bad. It was n out possible to get a suitable appointment for a massage booking 3 days prior to arrival.

It is a nice location and the room is pretty. Breakfast is good and it was nice they opened it early for the morning of the half marathon.
A disappointing stay for a couple of reasons:
1) I had booked the hotel based on it having a spa, a pool and a gym. Upon arrival when I asked about their opening times, it turned out none of the facilities were available. Which, for the royal charge to stay at this hotel, I think is incredibly unfair and misleading to not have mentioned before arrival. Hotel should have written to say services are limited before charging guests for their stay. Or at least put it on their website which they had not at my time of booking or in the week leading up to the stay. So for anyone booking because of the services, I would recommend they check that services are actually available. I will say that when I complained, I was eventually given free breakfast for the duration of my stay, which was appreciated.
2) the room itself is pretty but upon arrival the wifi did not work, there was no hot water and the mattress was worn out and uneven. Although wifi and water were addressed, I ended up changing rooms for a better mattress. Again, things happen but I don’t think all in all this is acceptable for a 5 star stay.
3) while there were friendly and helpful staff, I was appalled to see that one of them rolled his eyes at my large suitcase and complained in front of me to his colleagues that this was a nuisance as it could not go in the storage room. Again, everyone can have a bad day, but this is not 5 star hotel service, please don’t complain or roll your eyes in front of a guest, I shouldn’t have to tell you that it is rude to do so.
