About this house rental
With balconies overlooking the sand and Gulf, The Ivory Turtle is the ideal setting to watch sunrises and sunsets glow off the ocean. Just steps from the surf, The Turtle is west of the crowds and traffic, yet minutes from restaurants, the pier and shopping.
Located in a family-friendly neighborhood and on the front row of a beach where no vehicles are allowed, the house is an open-concept living space with walls of windows that frame a stunning view of the Gulf. The Turtle offers cozy throws, along with an electric fireplace that creates romantic flickers of flames in the evening.
Large enough to sleep six, but small enough to feel like home, there are two bedrooms in this house on stilts. The top-floor up a spiral staircase has a king-sized bed and a private balcony. The second bedroom has two full-sized bunks and a trundle. A crib is available for the littlest family member.
There are two bathrooms, including one with a shower and one with a relaxing soaking tub. An open-air shower is also available to wash off the remnants of your sandcastle.
The kitchen is well-appointed for any meal you want to dish up or you can grill and picnic beneath the covered patio. (There is both a propane and ceramic grill available. Remember to bring your fuel.) A full-size washer and dryer in the laundry room, free WIFI and cable, three flat-screen smart televisions, driveway parking, a fully fenced yard, beach toys, chairs and outdoor games are all available for use.
Restaurants and nightlife on the Strand is about 15 miles away. Moody Gardens is about 10 miles and Galveston State Park is 3 miles away.
Family-friendly, yet great for honeymoons or a small group of friends, this spot has it all.

We loved that this house was right on the beach, the view was awesome and it made getting the family to and from the beach a breeze. Unfortunately the A/C was not working and leaking through the ceiling when we arrived but I was able to get in contact with the host and they sent out a repair person that day to get the air blowing again but it did continued to leak through the ceiling. There were a few other inconveniences like the sliding door blinds were falling apart, there weren’t any room darkening shades so my kids were up at 6am with the sunrise, no furniture on the top balcony, my kids and I got eaten up by ants immediately when they walked through the grass in the yard to the gate trying to get the the beach and we killed a cockroach in the kitchen. The host was responsive to our issues so I was grateful for that. Be sure to bring your own coffee, there was only decaf available. I feel like this property could be 5 stars with some thoughtful TLC and pest control!

Overall, the stay was okay. Great views! Loved the seagulls & pelicans flying by. The house was very light and airy! But…The charcoal grill was rusted out with old briquette ash still inside. I can’t imagine it being used at all.The outdoor shed with all the beach stuff was a site. Everything was just thrown in there. Extremely old items in need of replacement, rusted folding chairs & wagon, rodent droppings on the shelf. I wouldn’t touch anything inside there.The upper deck planks are not screwed down. You step on one end of the plank and the other end pops up. That’s pretty much all of them. No furniture on the upper deck to enjoy the view except for a small rusted out metal swivel chair that doesn’t even belong outdoors Additionally, noticed some chipped paint, mildew, and not the greatest of vertical blinds at the glass sliding doors.For the host, we do have pictures of the items mentioned above if you need further details.Again, overall the stay wasn’t bad. We just expected more for the price we paid.Thanks!
