The hotel was cosy and as described. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet and using the pool and other things, e.g. bath, television. Although it was a bit far out of the town centre, it was cheaper than staying in similar hotels in the are and in nearby towns and cities, such as Braunschweig.
For such a big hotel, I’m surprised there wasn’t a person on the front desk for more hours of the day. I think more interactions with staff would have improved my stay. Also, I hadn’t realised there was an extra charge for the sauna until my last night. However, this is written on their website, so that’s my bad for misunderstanding. Another thing - which might be standard in Germany, but I wish there was a small kettle with tea and coffee in the hotel room. The room felt like it was missing this.
If you travel by car, it is worth staying at this hotel over the more expensive ones nearby. If you (like me) are travelling by foot and train, bear in mind that it is more difficult to get around because of regular train delays and issues with DB going via Gifhorn. For example, I ended up having to get an expensive taxi to get back to the hotel on my second night because my train was delayed and it was too dark to walk back through the park.

Sauberes Hotel, großer Parkplatz
Am Abend sehr freundliches Personal
Zum Frühstück war gar kein Personal zu sehen, man musste selber Tische abräumen
Es gab kein Vollkornbrot, keinen schwarzen Tee, keine Halbfettmargarine
Die Abendkarte war sehr übersichtlich
