Definitely overpriced

Good location.

This is comparative opinion in relation to a dozen or so other accommodations, where I had the opportunity to stay during my several-week stay in Japan, two more in Kyoto among them. First of all - overpriced, the price does not match the conditions. The apartment is on the ground floor, although it gives the impression of being in the basement. The apartment consists of a living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, room with a washing machine. The windows (blinded) are either on the corridor or on the pedestrian passage, the only window we opened in the laundry room overlooks the pedestrian passage. The living room floor is covered with tatami, which is supposed to give the impression that it is in Japanese style - it is not. In the bedroom there is a panel floor, the futons are very thin, after spreading them on the panels, lying on them you have the impression that you are lying on a folded blanket, of course it does not bother everyone. In the kitchen, a teapot for making tea or at least a mug would be useful. Making tea in cups or small bowls is very inconvenient. The key was in a locker protected by a padlock with a combination. When we arrived, the padlock had been set on opening combination of digits. Who would be responsible if we found the apartment robbed, because the key was practically unprotected? Overall, the apartment makes a rather depressing impression. For the price of rent, you can easily find a nicer place to stay in Kyoto with better conditions in good location. I will definitely not choose this accommodation in the future.

for a younger set or a local this accommodation would seem quite usual. for a westerner it took some adapting.

it gave us a base to look around. walkable distance to the Kyoto stn.

as a westerner I found the bedding only ‘adequately comfortable’.after a day of walking I was looking for a comfortable chair for the three of us. ( only on ground dining chairs) I felt the bedding could have been cleaner. ( mould was present on one futon)

The ample space and the Japanese style tatami.

Noise can be heard easily as walls are thin. But that is normal in Japan.
