Some places are beautiful, but others truly touch your heart. Maisha Matamu Boutique in Paje is one of those special places.
From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcome. The staff greeted us every morning with warm smiles and genuine kindness. Their personal attention and hospitality made us feel right at home.
Our garden suite with a king-size bed was spacious and comfortable. The food was delicious, the swimming pool was lovely and relaxing on the sun loungers overlooking the beach and the beautiful Indian Ocean was simply wonderful.
What made this place so special where the people. Their warmth and care made all the difference and turned a lovely stay into a truly memorable experience.
We left with beautiful memories and so much appreciation for the entire hardworking team. Maisha Matamu Boutique is more than just a place to stay. It is a place where you feel at home and would love to return to.
We would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Zanzibar. And don’t forget to get up early for the sunrises…
Asante sana to the entire team, from Shangazi and Berri. You made our stay truly unforgettable. ❤️

The room was very nice. The hotel is next to the beach.
The system was overused, so there was so many power outage during the days. Meaning, the AC restarted a thousand times during the night.
We had to ask for towels every day. The cleaning lady sometimes just give one new instead of two.
The breakfast wasn’t really rich.
We had to wait for hours for our food. (One day we literally had to wait 2 hours to get our meal and 35 mins to get only one dessert. (At least we got drinks on the house, when after 1.5hours waiting time, we decided to leave. They could not say anything else, that they are really sorry. There was 15 people beside us. In my opinion 15 ppl is not enough to kill a hotel’ kitchen. At least if they knew it was 24th of December, Christmas Eve, they could be prepared for a little more.
If some meal is incomplete (like they did not have hummus, ice cream, jam etc.) they do not Tell you before, but you just realize when the food arrives. The salads are even smaller than the starters.
At the end they put 5% plus if you would like to pay buy card, but they do not inform you about this, just add as an extra to your bills. It was not even written down anywhere, when I asked them to show it to me.
All the staff spoke English perfectly, or at least they seemed to speak perfectly. But sometimes I felt that they do not understand a word of what I am speaking. They just smiled.:) Like I asked for some fresh tomato and I got grilled ones. (At least I got any)
