About this house rental
The house is located in a residential area nestled in a quiet setting in a typical Venetian “campiello.” It is equipped with all amenities, including heating, air conditioning, bath and bed linens, shower gel and shampoo, a map of Venice, and numerous books on the city’s attractions, history, and museums. Guests have access to a small terrace where they can enjoy a glass of wine and soak up the Venetian atmosphere. We live in the same house in a separate area, so our guests will have complete independence, but we’re always available to offer advice, information, and assistance with any needs that may arise. A supermarket, bakery, pharmacy, and numerous typical Venetian osterie and bacari are just a few meters from the house.
Hi, I’m Michela. My husband Antonio and I were both born and raised in Venice, as were our respective families. We love our wonderful city dearly, and together we run the family bakery, where we prepare and bake bread and pastries every day according to our time-honored traditions. We have three children, and now that the two oldest are studying out of town, we’ve decided to open our home to continue—just as we’ve always done in our shop—the warmth and love that bind us to our hometown. So we’ll help you discover interesting facts, small squares, and hidden corners of our city, pointing out what to see, where to eat, and the many Venetian museums and palaces as you go. We look forward to seeing you!
An area not yet overrun by mass tourism but convenient for visiting the historic center! This is the “Sestiere” of Dorsoduro, one of the oldest in Venice because it seems the land here was less marshy than elsewhere. Located just 8 minutes from parking lots, bus stops, and the train and ferry stations, near the lively Campo Santa Margherita, where the atmosphere is less touristy and very popular with Venetians—with children playing, elderly people resting on benches, and college students. In the morning, you’ll find a lovely fish, fruit, and vegetable market, and all around are shops, supermarkets, bars, restaurants, and pizzerias—a place bustling with life until late at night, a rare find in Venice! The view overlooking the wide Giudecca Canal at the Zattere is also very beautiful, where the city’s relationship with the water can be appreciated in all its beauty. Rich in churches and numerous museums, the Dorsoduro district is home to shops offering fine local crafts. In short, being right in the heart of the historic center but without the tourist crowds of areas like Rialto or San Marco—this is the true beauty of Dorsoduro, where you can still experience moments of authenticity in the daily lives of Venetians.
