Traditional style house with good facilities, close to centre of town. Helpful staff, although not available in the morning. Cheap drinks in fridge. Good air con. Nice vibe.
Close to busy road, although ear plugs provided. Quite small room, 3 tatami mats.

We had a wonderful stay at this hostel. We loved the way they’ve created a number of common space areas in various parts of this traditional Japanese house. Their attention to detail in decor is fabulous.
The common areas allowed us to meet other people walking the Shikoku 88 (one from Japan and another from Germany), as well as a German couple who were vacationing in Japan. While we have enjoyed the minshuku vibe along the pilgrimage route it’s always nice to meet other travelers.
The common areas also include a fridge, a microwave oven and a toaster for those who want to bring in some konbini take away.
As for meals, there are a number of really well rated restaurants within easy walking distance (like less than 10 minutes), and a Family Mart just a five minute walk away.
Our room was cozy with really comfortable futon pads, high thread count sheets and super comfy duvets. We left the windows open all night and enjoyed the cool autumn air. For most of the night traffic noise was not an issue.
Azumi was very responsive and helpful, even offering to book a table for us at a recommended restaurant nearby.
We found out that Aki has some cool stuff to explore so we’d book a two night stay next time.
By around 7:00 a.m. traffic was picking up a bit so if you’re looking to sleep in you might want to use the provided earplugs.
