Second Valley Cottages and Lodge

old cottage done up - still retaining its charm

The host is very nice. We got many instructions about checking into our room. Liz even came out to greet us when we arrived. Shower is good. Had some 'visitor' at night.

The bed was a bit small for us.

Quaint location & old cottage Daily breakfast & drinks Owner took time to explain the history of cottage I forgot stuff & they were very prompt in posting it

Was hoping the room was cleaned & beds were made daily or at very least, rubbish collected when brekky was delivered.

Communication was excellent between the owner and ourselves, making the place very easy to find. Because we had a later ferry from Kangaroo Island our arrival at second valley was outside the hours they normally meet you on arrival, in the car park. We loved that the heating was on and place was cosy and warm and all set up for us.

Unfortunately the bed in cottage #19 was very uncomfortable for my partner who has a back issue, she complained that the bed sank when she got in & felt like the mattress was old, so consequently didn't get a wonderful night's sleep. Also there seems no mobility provision at the cottages so we had to carry our suitcases up reasonably steep wooden steps from the car park to get to our room, something to be aware of if you have mobility issues. (Maybe the owner if meeting in the car park assists with this?)
