Extremely disappointing stay due to a serious cockroach problem, poor cleanliness, maintenance issue
The house was spacious, and the location was convenient for our group. We also appreciated having enough bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate our family.
Unfortunately, our experience with this property was extremely disappointing from the moment we arrived. I didn't receive the host's email with the house access code (I tried contacting the host but received no response). Fortunately, when my sister-in-law arrived at approximately 4:30 p.m., the cleaning crew was still there preparing to leave, so she asked them to contact the host on our behalf to get the code. Cleanliness was also a major concern. We found cockroaches in the house every single day, mainly in the kitchen, pantry & downstairs bathrooms. We found roaches on the kitchen counter shortly after we arrived, which forced us to throw away food we had just purchased. My kids later went to get Pop-Tarts from the pantry & found a cockroach inside the box. Having roaches around where we stored and prepared food was completely unacceptable. There were also numerous maintenance and safety issues throughout the property. The pantry door was off its hinges & nearly fell on one of the kids. The closet doors in the bunk room were also falling apart, the sofa in the upstairs loft was broken, & the light in the game room & the downstairs master bedroom did not work. The bathroom light in the upstairs master bedroom would become very dim, as would the light in the other upstairs bedroom. The water pressure in the bathrooms was extremely low. We couldn't watch movies on the TVs because we kept getting messages that channels needed to be downloaded. The dryer was also concerning because it kept running for hours, including overnight, unless we noticed and manually stopped it. The property was not properly cleaned before our arrival. Although it appeared that the cleaning crew had just finished, the floors were dirty & there was debris & dirt underneath the sofa in the living room. We also had an ongoing problem with a raccoon getting into the outside garbage every night and tearing it apart.
