It was beautiful and in a lovely location
It had everything we needed while we were there although maybe some information regarding taxis or local takeout would be good as we didn’t realise after the cafe closed there wasn’t much about unless you drove which was the whole point of our trip to ditch the car and get out and about
We were told that there were no lights on the trail to and from Bakewell so came back early to avoid being on the track in the dark if that makes sense
It could have done with black out curtains to block out every car light that came around the roundabout
Obviously that can’t be helped because of it’s location but maybe they would help a little
Although we didn’t use the oven it was dirty when we arrived and the fridge could of done with a wipe over too otherwise everything else was clean and tidy and it was a lovely place to stay

The cottage was very well placed for the areas and walks we wanted to visit, which was a real highlight of our stay. We particularly enjoyed being so close to the Monsal Trail and ended up using it for walks most mornings and evenings. The cottage itself was nicely decorated and had a pleasant feel.
The location directly on the main roundabout meant there was quite a lot of traffic noise at night. Thankfully, the good curtains and shutters did a good job of blocking most of this out.
There were a few areas where the cottage could be improved. The kitchen wasn’t particularly well equipped for self-catering, there was no pizza cutter or sieve, which were things we needed for meals we prepared during our four-night stay. There were also only a small number of tea and coffee sachets provided.
Although the property allowed dogs, it didn’t feel particularly dog-friendly in practice. There was no bin provided for dog waste or any clear/signposted area for taking dogs outside. We ended up using the Monsal Trail for our morning and evening walks and disposing of the waste in the bins at the shop car park.
There were also no clear instructions about recycling or where to put the rubbish. We eventually found the bins ourselves, but they were already overflowing with general waste and recycling, which was quite unpleasant.
The bathroom also had a noticeable damp smell. Unfortunately, the towels weren’t changed during our four-night stay, and the hair towel provided had holes in it.
Parking was available, although the two spaces in the yard are extremely tight, so larger vehicles may find parking a little difficult. Alternative parking along the lane was better.
Overall, we enjoyed the location and found it a great base for exploring the Peak District, but there were several practical and maintenance issues that could be addressed to make the property a more comfortable stay.

Easy access for an elderly person I.e. not many stairs & all on one level but a bit small
Requires black out curtains to block the traffic lights shining through the bedroom windows & needs double glazing as is very noisy, the oven was very dirty & the bathroom towel rail was dirty/dusty, the rest of the property was good, nice touches with dog towel, treats & bed for the dogs
