Location is excellent - exceptionally clean and well equipped
Expensive for two nights and also having to provide a €500 in cash damage deposit which was returned following a thorough inspection at check out.

Gorgeous snacks, milk , wine !! Coffee , milk …. The list goes on 😊 I would recommend this beautiful house for anyone looking for a comfortable stay in a quiet little village next to the river.
You can swim in the river, it’s super clean and refreshing!

Personal welcome from super friendly hosts who shared lots of local knowledge. Property is so beautiful. Very well equipped - Monica and Warren have through of everything! Situated opposite the river where we swam everyday.

Do not hesitate to book this house. We stayed for 5 nights but wished we'd had more time to stay longer. We loved the house and the area, and we will definitely book to stay here again. Monica and Warren are wonderful hosts. Monica was great at communicating before our trip and responded quickly to any questions I had. They met us at the house and told us everything we needed to know and gave us some tips about things to visit. We absolutely loved the house and waking up every morning to the view of the river. The master bedroom is beautiful and has an ensuite bathroom and the two bedrooms on the other side of the house share the other bathroom. The kitchen is the best equipped kitchen I have ever stayed in on holiday; Monica has thought of everything and really wants you to feel at home. We really appreciated all the things that had been provided like tea, coffee, sugar, cooking oil to name but a few and the lovely cakes and biscuits! The house is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. We had planned full days out and a few extra days would have allowed us more time to enjoy the house and Bourg-Charente.
Bourg-Charente is less isolated than you might think and makes a great base for exploring the area. The closest supermarket is in Jarnac, 10 minutes away and LeClerc in Cognac was less than 15 minutes away. Cognac is a lovely place to visit (there is a route to follow so get a map from the tourist office). To the Northeast there are some amazing villages to see: Tusson, Nanteuil-en-vallée and Verteuil sur Charente are places where you park the car and go for a 20 minute wander and enjoy magnificent views of the river Charente before driving to Angouleme to visit the old town. We drove southeast of Bourg Charente to Bassac, St-Simon, St Simeux and then onto the viewing table near Segonzac. It's about an hour and a half drive to the tram station la Butiniere where you can park and jump on the tramway into Bordeaux, a stunning city you can see in a day.
