Decent apartment badly let down by poor communication & an unfair refusal to return our key deposit

The apartment's location in Turin was convenient and the space itself was fine for four people. As there was no AC at the property, the host did at least provide fans, which took a little of the edge off. Check-in with the welcome agent on arrival was smooth enough.

Communication was the biggest problem: in the two weeks before the trip I was left waiting on multiple simple queries and repeatedly ignored for 14 days, which made planning far harder than it should have been. In the end I had to contact the phone support line. They require a deposit for a second set of keys even though this place hosts 4 guests, and they request you return one set of keys back to their office which is a bit out of the way. Key deposit was quoted at €20 beforehand but jumped to €50 on arrival due to some festival which was apparently taking place on the other side of the city, and when both key sets were accidentally left in the apartment on check-out I contacted them immediately, only to be ignored for over five hours and then told to come to the office the next day, by which point I'd left Turin. They've now refused to return the €50 deposit at all, which feels unfair given it was an honest mistake - the keys were not lost, they did not need to cut new keys and their own slow responses ruled out any chance to fix it. There was no air conditioning, which was tough in the summer heat. One of the showers needs repair. Can be quite loud at night.

Terrible experience, awful management

The situation, close to the center.

We had a very bad experience. The comunication with the agents to make an appointment for the checkin was difficult, even if I had made the checkin online. I had to call several times, as nobody was contacting me to fix the appointment. The elevator was not working and one guest, with a partial handicap, had to use the stairs with a lot of difficulties. Wonderful Italy had no idea about this issue (we knew from a neighbour that this problem was well know since some time). They promised to contact us to tell us some news about the elevator, which never happened. I also requested a cradle for the baby through Wonderful Italy website. We received the cradle, but without matress nor sheets. I complained about this, but nobody tried to solve the problem. The partial excuse from them was that we hadn't paid for it, but we hadn't received a link or any other option to do it. Also, the house was not cleaned when we arrived, totally unaceptable. The cleaning lady came quickly that afternoon. In any case the situation was very inconvenient as we were already installed at the house. Last, the house is poorly maintained. Both baths have leaky showers, that loose a lot of water. One of them even broke into pieces while using it (was possible to asemble it again, temporarily). I complained to the customer service by phone and they assured me they would consider a compensation, but never called back. The lack of interest in the customer is discouraging. Terrible experience.

Perfect location with a splendid view of the river, Superga and the Foster's building of the campus of the University of Turin. The flat was spacious enough for two co-workers, we had enough privacy but also a place to discuss the agenda together.
