We enjoyed this property so much. We actually booked it for a photo shoot and the possibilities for background shots and styles were endless. This time of year the mosquitoes were insane, but that’s part of being on a property with a pond, tall grass, and a lot of land. The ants were a bit of a problem by the fire pit and around the barn, but if you just kept your head down and pay attention where you walk, you’ll be fine. The pond is FULL of fish and was so peaceful. The cattle even came close to the house and checked us out. The house is adorable and there is the sweetest most adorable little cat that loves to be pet. She’ll run in the house if you’re not looking, but she is so sweet. We loved the asthetic of this place so much that we would LOVE to come back when it’s much cooler (and the mosquitoes are a little less inclined to be out. lol). If you’re looking for a little country get away with a pond to fish in, a kitty to love on, cattle to watch, and 10 minutes from downtown McKinney, this is a GREAT option. Very very peaceful!

This property is the perfect quiet country home but still conveniently close to all the things Dallas and the surrounding areas has to offer. We were in town for baseball and this home is perfect if you are playing at the Z plex and want minimal travel time. The host was very responsive to any questions that I had. The cows are fun to watch in the pasture and the pond is pretty too. Overall, great place to stay!

The host was very attentive, and the spaceproperty was full of character! Unfortunately, the house was extremely cold (say, around 55-60F for most of the stay). I suppose a cold front hit McKinney unexpectedly. I assumed the rental had appropriate accomodations to heat the house (which I expect from any hotel or rental without even looking at any description in the first place), but the description DOES claim that it has heating. Of course, this technically true, but the heaters were one wall unit and 3 small space heaters for a space far larger than they could reasonably heat. It was tolerable for a bit until my now-wife (btw, this was our honeymoon rental) caught a cold the morning of our checkout. She is immunocompromised (autoimmune condition called systemic sclerosis), and I would not have booked this rental had I known this would be the outcome. My wife and I agreed that any renters with children under 5 would not be able to stay here, as it just gets too cold. If the description had clearly stated that this rental did not fare well in the cold weather, this would be entirely my fault. However, this is not the case.Had the host not been super communicative and the space not been full of character, I would have actually given a 0- or 1-star rating. That said, I DO think you would have a 5-star experience on a warmer day! All in all, I think this is a wonderful spot meant to be enjoyed in the late Spring, Summer, and early Fall.

Very rustic. You could see daylight through the walls. There was only one channel on the tv and only rocking chairs in the living room. The pond had no fish in it which is the main reason we booked it. We left a few days early. I think there was mosquitoes in the house, we woke up with bites each morning. She was very attentive and quick to answer and it was very clean. The shower was nice with good water pressure. The kitchen could use a strainer for cooking otherwise was well stocked.
This 1940's Farm House is hidden in plain site. It has been stripped down to its original bones. It's unique features give it great character. This two bedroom one bath features a four foot round galvanized tub shower combo. It has a full kitchen, minus the dishwasher, with everything you need to prepare your own meals. If cooking was not on the agenda your just minutes away from historical downtown McKinney Cultural District, offering a variety of boutiques, restaurants, pubs and wineries. After a trip to town, take a walk down to the pond and prehaps go fishing. Enjoy a game of horseshoes or make smore's in the fire pit. The house is surrounded by 79 acres of farmland, it sits on top of a hill so there is always a breeze. Relax on the porch with your favorite beverage and watch the cows and calves as they graze in the pasture. If you need some alone time, cozy up by the fireplace with a good book. Great family getaway or couples weekend retreat. Its not the Hilton but its feels like home. It is a 1940 farm house so it does get COLD in the winter even with HEATERS. Bring winter clothes for inside and out. The house isn’t really design for long term rental….No WiFi…No washer/dryer…All money goes through VRBO. If you have a pet ….select pet in pricing.
