Excellent apartment in great location.

Extremely nice and professional gentleman met me to hand me keys and explain how everything works. Apartment is clean, spacious, and in a great location near tourist sites and metro station. I loved the large refrigerator with freezer. I am a woman traveling solo and felt very safe. Lovely stay. Thank you.

A well-located and clean apartment, improvements needed.

On the positive side, the beds were very comfortable and the apartment was very clean throughout. The living area was pleasant, with two sofas providing a nice space to relax. Practical items such as a kettle and hair dryer were provided, and the water pressure in the shower was good. The location is excellent, making it easy to explore Catania, and there are some great places to eat nearby — I would particularly recommend Locanda Cerami just around the corner, as well as L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele Catania. The air conditioning worked well once set up; the remote provided was a universal replacement and was not configured, but after some effort it functioned properly.

However, there are a number of drawbacks. Most concerning is a fire safety issue, as a key is required to exit the apartment, which could be dangerous in an emergency. The access to the upper floor (second bedroom) feels unsafe, as the “handrail” is only a loose rope that is not secure, presenting a risk of falling. This, along with the layout, makes the apartment unsuitable for children. The bunk beds themselves are not fit for use. The property is also in urgent need of redecoration, particularly the bathroom, where there are cracked floor tiles and a cracked mirror. The shower is extremely small and very difficult to use comfortably, this has been noted in previous reviews, I though it would be OK, it was not. There are also practical concerns. Access to the apartment involves a significant number of steps, so it is not suitable for anyone with reduced mobility. The electrical setup is poorly arranged, with sockets in inconvenient locations and multiple hanging extension leads, which feel unsafe. Some lights did not work at all, either due to missing bulbs or an absence of usable sockets nearby, both in the upper bedroom and in the living space. Although marketed for multiple occupants, the apartment would be a squeeze for six people. The upper bedroom in particular is very problematic. The ceiling is extremely low — even at 5 foot 6 I frequently hit my head — and the bunk bed makes moving around even more difficult. There is no proper space to unpack, and overall it is quite an uncomfortable area to spend time in, despite having the benefit of air conditioning. In summary, while the location and some basic comforts are strong positives, the safety concerns, maintenance issues and impractical layout detract significantly from the overall experience.
