The view

Very disappointing stay — serious access, cleanliness and value concerns Our stay at Bularangi Villa, Fiji was an extremely disappointing experience, and I believe prospective guests need much clearer information before making a booking. The most serious issue was access to the property. The road leading to the villa is in very poor condition, and this was not adequately disclosed or emphasised before booking. In our experience, the access can be difficult and potentially dangerous, particularly during wet weather and after dark. This is not a minor inconvenience—it is important safety information that could materially affect someone’s decision to book, particularly families, older travellers, or anyone arriving at night. Had the true condition of the access been made clear beforehand, we would have reconsidered our booking. We were also very disappointed by the cleanliness and general maintenance of the accommodation. The bedsheets did not appear properly clean, and overall the property felt poorly maintained. Clean bedding and a properly maintained room are basic expectations for paid accommodation, regardless of price. Another major disappointment was the pricing of the in-villa meals. We found the prices extraordinarily poor value. For example, the villa’s menu lists chicken or lamb curry packages at FJ$100 for only 1–2 people, with an additional FJ$50 trip charge to obtain ingredients. By comparison, a nearby accommodation’s menu offered substantial meals at dramatically lower prices—for example, chicken curry with rice, two roti, dhal soup, vegetable curry and chutney for FJ$15 per serve, with other meals similarly priced. We also had access to nearby food options with delivery. Against those alternatives, the villa’s meal pricing felt excessive and very difficult to justify. Overall, this was a very poor experience.

Great stay and great service. We will definitely be back.

Pretty much everything. Beautiful house, great waterfront location, very clean and good value.

The only downside was the road to the property.
