Lovely cosy and comfortable cottage in a quiet area. Four pubs in the square which is very nearby, a fish and chip shop and café also, Food good in all we tried. Just be aware that hours may be restricted at this time of year. everyone in the area very pleasant. The cottage is in Middleham, Leyburn, Leyburn village is a drive away as are all other villages. Hawes and Richmond also worth a visit.
It would have been nice if more places were walkable. lots of the roads do not have pavements, so wouldn't feel safe walking on those, even if the villages were nearer.

Well appointed, with most everything you would need in the kitchen.
This is, without doubt, the coldest UK holiday rental we have stayed at. The electric radiator in the living area was on 24/7 from our arrival, but hardly made a difference to the ambient temperature. In the 7 nights of our stay (mid October) we went through a big bag of kindling and 3 big bags of logs for the stove just to keep warm. One night's kindling and logs and firelighters were provided on arrival, but no means of lighting them!
There are no views from the cottage, as it is located in the back yard of the Wensleydale Hotel with views of the rear door of the hotel kitchen and the bins, oil tanks and gas bottles of adjacent cottages.
Parking can ba a problem at weekends.

I booked this cottage for my niece and her 2 teenage children.They we’re very disappointed that there was no Internet or tv in the cottage.It took 2 days to get hold of anybody as nobody answered the phone.When they did we were told the village was out of internet due to a fault.Someone came to fix it and said it was only our cottage that was at fault.The owner tried to remedy things but not once did he apologise for the inconvenience or offer a refund.All in all the cottage was adequate for their stay but would have liked tv.
