Superb stay at Morgadio da Calcada. The perfect combo of past and present: the minimalist new rooms, are designed to perfection withing the walls of the ancient store rooms/barn of the Manor house. The landscape is immaculate and walking through the vineyards is like being in a movie set.
The staff is welcoming and friendly and ready to assist with whatever is needed.
The meals are served in a communal room, adjacent to the Main Manor house. The breakfast buffet includes a selection of fresh baked breads, cheeses, ham, juices and a choice of eggs.
We had our main dinner at the property, that included a 3-course meal paired with their own wines. The owner introduced each course and the wines. Perfefction.
Highly recommended. A dream setting in the Douro Valley.

Away from touristy areas, a local family property. Gorgeous vineyard location, authentic historic property (not your average hotel!). Lovely common areas, great breakfast, fabulous caring staff, and a drive to the top of the mountain that is memorable!
The room was a bit austere, but I rather liked this. Authentic.

Location was fabulous and it was in a lovely village. Very quiet no peaceful, beautiful vineyards.
Our room was very small, and it was basic. Luckily we had good weather, it would have been difficult otherwise.
