Mark and Francesca and their team were brilliant. They were all very friendly and the atmosphere was such that we chatted freely with other visitors. When we were told the chef's wife was coeliac my anxiety about food was totally disappated. The food was delicious and the chef was very accommodating. We explored their extensive gardens where there was a surprise at every turn. We also carried on to the little grotto. It was ideally located for accessing the areas of Cornwall that we wanted to visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend them.
We have been told by another hotel that to leave this blank can affect your score. Keep going you are doing a brilliant job.

The Waterwheel was excellent .Fantastic staff and fabulous food at breakfast and dinner. The gardens were amazing full of character and hidden gems. We would love a return visit.
No complaints at all.

Because this was the only holiday our work schedules afforded us this year (6 nights) - we did quite a careful search before committing. It was also our Anniversary Week. What saved an otherwise really disappointing stay were the waiting staff in the dining room (also doubling as room staff) who were utterly charming and fun. The breakfasts were good as was the meal we had on the night of our arrival (an addition to our bill - not included!) And the actual location of the property (in terms of Cornwall) was good because access to Southern and Northern coastlines are equal, the Eden Project is close and other lovely locations. In this respect our choice was good and what we wanted.
This property billed itself as a 4Star hotel! It is NOT! First of all - whereas the photos and subsequent implications in the description are that you are in the heart of the countryside - you are not! You turn into the parking lot directly off the main road! Our hearts sank right from the get-go! We had had very firm instructions that we should not arrive before 4pm because there would be no one to show us to our room!! 4 stars? There is actually no reception desk - it doubles as the bar in the lounge of what is quintessentially a Pub with a Restaurant and Rooms 4 star? We were obliged to pay the whole 6 day stay up front otherwise we would have moved to another hotel. On booking I wrote to the property when I noted (after paying!) that the room we’d been allocated only had a shower. We like baths! I received a fait accomplis reply that the price band only gave me a shower. There was no offer of an upgrade nor a commitment to trying to give us a room with a bath if one became available! Once we got there - I think it was clear that there were NO rooms with baths? But I’m only surmising here. 4 stars - I don’t think so? Our room had a small double bed in it and an extra single bed! Why? It totally crammed up the room and a Queen size bed is the recognised industry standard for a Double Room in a 4 star hotel! The bathroom - should I say “rooms”! - were tiny! One room held the toilet and a guest sized basin - not great to shave and brush teeth etc in! And the other was a tiny box of a shower with nowhere to rest your toiletries on! We are standard sized people - only one person could be in the shower room at once and it was awkward to get out of it because you almost had to step back into the shower itself to open the door to exit! Furthermore, these two rooms were on different levels! In fact you had to step into the room on one level and then 2 steps down onto the shower level and then another 2 steps down onto the bedroom/ toilet level!
