Hotel Alcázar de la Reina

A lovely historic hotel in the heart of Carmona, ideally located for exploring the town. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with particularly comfortable beds. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and the availability of convenient parking was a real bonus given the central location. A pleasant and enjoyable stay in a characterful building.

Unfortunately, the bathroom fell well below expectations for a hotel of this standing. The shower appeared to be a rather dated addition over the bath, reminiscent of something installed in the 1970s, and was simply not up to the standard we would expect. Breakfast was equally disappointing, particularly in a region renowned for its wonderful food and local produce. This feels like a missed opportunity to showcase the quality and variety of Andalusian ingredients. The fruit selection was particularly unappealing and looked as though it had been sitting out for several days. It would also have been appreciated if some gluten-free options had been clearly available and displayed as part of the breakfast offering. With a little more attention to these areas, the hotel could offer an experience much more in keeping with its historic character, excellent location and overall standing.

Beautiful hotel with an outdoor central pool and with an outlook over the Vegas/ grasslands to the front. Very well appointed and with an excellent restaurant on site. The room was spacious, comfortable and with good air conditioning. Very helpful staff at reception and in the restaurant. Carmona is an interesting town, with narrow streets and many historical churches. The museum which details Carmona's history since Neolithic times, is very well worth visiting.

No complaints, but it's worth checking out the route to get there beforehand as there is some careful driving down one way streets required!

Location, pool, and easy on street parking

I'd prefer a shower cubicle instead of a shower over the bath

Lovely old building, great pool area and we had a great night having tapas and a few drinks in the bar in the evening. The staff were friendly and helpful

We upgraded our room before arrival to a junior suite but the room sadly we encountered problems, the main concern was that the air conditioning unit wasn’t working and given it was 42 degrees this was a major problem. We reported it immediately, the hairdryer wasn’t working or the fridge in the room so all the drinks were warm. We went to the pool and had a drink there. On returning to the room the air conditioning wasn’t working, they did offer us another room but again it wasn’t working. The main areas of the hotel, reception and bar/restaurant was we’re working perfectly. We had no sleep due to the heat in the room, on check out we asked about compensation and we were denied any form of reimbursement. The room cost was €189 it wasn’t worth the money.
