Contemporary Common Areas, Convenient, Busy with Tour Groups for Large Families
The property is located near the Kurodake Ropeway and is a 5 minute walk where the lifts are. There are other properties right next to the ropeway but I selected this property because the common areas are contemporary and very welcoming. The hospitality of the staff is friendly and offers an array of lounge snacks (gelato, crackers, small dishes, beer, drinks, etc.) for guests outside of meal times. The room itself featured tatami mats but two queen size beds, small sitting area, private bathroom, and closets. It was a bit dated as I don't believe they did a renovation of the 8th floor. I believe (though unconfirmed), the more updated rooms are on the lowers floors (and likely cost more). There is laundry and kitchenette facilities in the common areas including a game room.
The fire pit in the lobby / lounge area was lovely providing heat and that scent of crackling wood on a cold winter day.
It is a property that welcomes a lot of tour groups so please be aware it is a high volume resort but the services and hospitality were not lacking. I think the main draw is the all you can eat buffet featuring crab legs.
There is an indoor and outdoor onsen both located on two separate floors. The outdoor onsens are on a different floor for hotel guests than the indoor ones which are available to the general public.

Great introduction to Japan and the onsens.
First few nights stay in Japan, and it was great. We loved the rooms, the cleanliness of the hotel generally and politeness of everyone. The restaurant staff were lovely and helped us find our way around the various offerings, The spider crab legs were a particular highlight. Decent location close to the ropeway, and a couple of waterfall walks. Recommended.

Perfectly placed for the gorge and Kurudake
Perfectly placed for the gorge and ascent to the Kurudake. The hotel was busier than we expected, especially noticeable at the dinner buffet, but everything was well organized. Enjoyed the all-inclusive drinks and light snacks by the open fire (from 5 pm), and the dinner speciality of crab legs.

Great experience!
The location is very good, very close to the main street. The onsen is nice, too! The buffet is fair. The free flow of wine and snacks is great. The lobby is Great! We loved the fireplace, which is a real wood-buring one!!
The parking place is a bit far. The room's renovation has some wear and tear, but it was very clean and functioned well.

+ Staff were helpful and polite
+ Variety and quality of the food at buffet was really good.
+ Free flow of drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) as well as gelato and snacks.
+ Located opposite a mountain wiht great views of the forest and walking distance from the Daisetsuzan Sounkyo Kurodake Ropeway.
+ Ample parking space but requires a valet to get you to your car as parking lot is further away from hotel
+ Sizeable guest room
- Constant smell of smoke and cigarette smoke in the lobby and in the room. When we checked in the whole lobby was filled with smoke from the fireplace and it was terrible.
- A lot of tourists and I just hate the way everyone was rushing to grab all of the crab legs at the buffet. It was a frenzied dining experience. i was expecting something more relaxed.
- The open onsen on level 5 can be seen from our room's windows on the top floor. Not much privacy for the male guests using the outdoor onsen.
- The women's changing room at the onsen on level 5 lacked drinking water and is not very well equipped.
