Hotel du Pont Vieux was a great choice for our stay in Carcassonne. Conveniently located a short walk from the old walled city, the hotel room was small but comfortable. The hotel manager and his wife were wonderful hosts, making us feel very welcome from the time of our arrival to our departure several days later. The secured onsite parking (which must be booked for in advance) was an absolute bonus as parking around the city is very limited. The buffet breakfast available on site was more than sufficient and was a great start to the day. The view from the hotel's 3rd floor terrace looking up at the walled city at night is simply sensational.
The stairs to the hotel rooms on the 1st and 2nd levels and our heavy travel bags were not the best of friends but we considered it a very small price to play for visiting such a beautiful part of the world.

Location is great, within walking distance of the walled town and good for restaurants. We used the hotel parking and that was good as very limited parking nearby. Rooms were comfortable with aircon. Great views of the castle from the rooftop and a nice sheltered garden. No bar with the hotel but there was a deli that sold you good local beers and produce that you could have in the garden. The hotel owner was very helpful and suggested some good places to eat, even booking them for us. Top place that we would certainly use again.
The breakfast was not so relaxed as there was limited room for the buffet.

Bathroom - very clean and new but bathtub very dangerously slippery.
