I had the private room and it's massive. Lots of space and there is a nice desk as well. I really like that the owner is responsive and very knowledgeable about Hualien. She also has google map list of sights to see and places to eat.
Appears there is only 1 washroom per floor. It wasn't busy when I stayed so it didn't bother me but I can see it being a problem if the hostel was full.

Checking good. Free towel upon asking. Great as free washing machine use. Beds comfy. Dorm on the small size but OK if people are tidy! On the minus side - the area for guests very tiny with a tiny dirty fridge. The kitchen sink vile/dirty for x3 days, only cleaned on Thursday when the restaurant part to be open friday to public. A/C only in dorms. fan only in sitting area and A/C in dining area only put on when restaurant opens. So makes for very uncomfortable humid relaxing.

No a/c in relaxing areas or dining area. My own personal opinion, disappointed
