The architecture is stunning, old-world charm that makes the place feel truly special. The gardens are gorgeous, filled with beautiful trees and flowers.
We booked a twin room, the bedsheets were lovely and super soft, although the beds themselves weren’t the most comfortable.
Breakfast and dinner were included. Breakfast was delicious and dinner was generally good, second night was served around the fire with three main courses served, however, our first-night experience could have been better. We arrived late on Friday (8pm), feeling very hungry and exhausted. As we needed to wake up at 4 a.m. the following morning for a marathon. Unfortunately, communication with the lodge was quite difficult because we had booked through Booking.com. As a result, dinner that first night was disappointing. We were each served one chicken leg and a small portion of rice, soup and dessert. I don’t even eat meat, but I had to eat what was available because I needed enough energy for the marathon the next day.
This experience highlighted the importance of better communication, especially for guests arriving late or with specific needs. With clearer communication and a little more attention to dinner arrangements, the experience could have been much better.

The location, the beautiful garden and the duiker, klipspringer, suni, bush babies, birds and flowers were wonderful. We liked the delicious breakfasts on the terrace and the hearty dinners around the huge fire. The staff, especially Bethu, Ruth and Lizzie were always friendly and helpful.
The mattress on our bed, though comfortably soft, sloped off at the sides.

The entire place feels like "Out of Africa" at its best. It is a wonderful place with a lot of flair and charme. Other reviewers mentioned dated furniture and some need for renovation. This is a point of opinion. We liked everything the way it was in a very original, well kept but dated and most of all very clean state. Great staff and wonderful meals with dinner around a fire and breakfast on the terrace. The roads in the park are managable with a standard vehicle, but require some caution when driving.
We only had time to stay one night ...
