Guinea Fowl Lodge - Lagoon & Heads View B&B, Central Knysna

fantastic place. we felt safe.

the roads to the venue were terrible.

Super place…great views of the lagoon and headlands from their balcony. Great breakfast, very friendly owner and staff and a honesty bar if you want a beer and a dip in their pool!

I was at first concerned whether I’d chosen the location a little far from the town as I didn’t have a car, in reality, there are stairs nearby straight into the middle of where I wanted to be, there is a reliable Uber service too!

Great breakfast. All staff very helpful and friendly.

We originally booked two nights at the Guinea Fowl Lodge - Lagoon & Heads View B&B, but due to significant issues, we left prematurely after just one night. We honestly have no idea how all the good reviews for this place came about. In the first room, there was a very strong smell of mold coming from the wardrobe. This unpleasant odor was intensified because we had to use the air conditioner for heating since the room was very cold. After we complained, we were moved to another room, which was sold to us as an upgrade. However, there was no sign of that: there was a huge stain on the carpet that will certainly never come out. The doors in general were old, rattling, completely chipped and damaged at the bottom, and did not feel secure at all with the locks provided. There was also a large gap under the main entrance door. The bathroom was extremely outdated and worn out – the coating on the tiles at the shower step is peeling off extensively, and the paint on the floor tiles is already coming off in many places as well. The staff was friendly but seemed quite incompetent. Every single question had to be double-checked with the owner first, as no one was able to give information independently. For breakfast, there was a varied selection available, but basics like eggs were completely empty. The manager actually had to drive to the supermarket first to get more supplies. Absolutely not recommended for us.
