We had a lovely stay. They provide kimonos, wodden shoes and umbrellas for the guests. The room was incredible, it's traditional and had a private bath. We enjoyed the meals, they were authentic and balanced. Great quality-price. You can collect stamps at the onsens and they give you a nice souvenir.
We liked everything!

Great location and easy to find. Quick check in process. Staff brought my luggage into my room as I dropped them off prior to check in time. Average breakfast- would be great to have some coffee - visitors would appreciate.
The negative part for me was the staff. There were storming into my room numerous times in the morning. The latest breakfast time that could request it was 8am. Lady started knocking my door at 0750 to bring the breakfast in. But that’s fine. I brought the tray out of the room once I was done so I can get some rest before the 10am check out time. 2 Ladies again at 0830 knocked my door because they wanted to remove my futon. I explained to them that I want to nap a bit before my check out. An hour or so (0945) they started knocking my door again to remind that check out time is at 10, like it was not enough all the other times and they reminded me! I left my room not even a minute after 10am but I felt like they wanted to kick me out of the room since the time they served me breakfast like my room is not my private space which I paid for and can stay until the scheduled check out time. All that disturbance took away the serenity and the hospitality feeling that a ryokan must have. The 2-3 mins won’t make a difference if they wait until the guest vacates the room. I stayed in Kinosaki 2 nights before this accommodation in another ryokan and I didn’t feel like a burden to them! Anyway, I don’t want to put the blame on the entire staff but the ladies who I encountered in my room really ruined my experience. Futon could be a bit thicker for more comfortable sleep.

Centrally located and with parking nearby. Staff were keen to make everything go smoothly. The traditional breakfast was really good.
This property is a little aged but that adds to its charm.

The breakfast and dinner were really good and healthy. They serve you crab which this town is known for. The staff that brings your meal and makes your bed (yes there is no bed until bed time and they come make it in the floor) is really nice. Even they dont speak English they made an effort to understand me.
Having stayed at other ryokans in the area I can say The reception lady does not make any effort to make you feel welcomed. She does not inform there are baskets to take to onsens. She does not offer instructions on how to wear Yukata. She charges you 500 yen when checking out for a tax that I did not pay nowhere. The room smells very strong of old tatami (and maybe mold?) which I did not experience nowhere else. No effort to cover wall stains, not even with a painting. Is very old ryokan, could be charming and unique, but instead it is kept in a bad shape and spooky vibes.
