The owners gave us such a warm welcome at Palazzo Torriani. Hearing what the palazzo had been through during World War II was heartbreaking, and seeing it so beautifully restored made our stay feel even more special. Our apartment was incredibly spacious, and with such a generous breakfast spread included, it was a great value.
We chose Marradi for the chestnut festival, held every Sunday in October, and the palazzo was right in the heart of the celebration. We arrived by train to find bands playing, streets lined with food stalls, and the smell of roasting chestnuts in the air.
The next day we browsed the town market, went for a hike, and took a cooking class at the palazzo. We made a wonderful meal celebrating the flavors of Emilia-Romagna region and Marradi’s own marroni chestnuts. I still can’t believe we made chestnut pasta from scratch and shaped it into such beautiful, delicate bow ties!
We could walk everywhere we wanted to go in Marradi, and Florence was an easy day trip by train. We only wish we’d stayed longer.

We found that most of the beds we slept in during our trip to Italy were on the firm side, The bed in the master bedroom of apartment was no exception.

Dall'ospitalità della Signora Anna Maria, squisita persona affabilmente aristocratica nei gesti e nella premura per l'ospite, dalla prima colazione ricca di eccellenze del territorio, alla cucina guidata dalla figlia Mariaelena e alla cortese cura di tutto il personale, collocando il tutto nnello splendore del palazzo, ogni minuto lì trascorso è stato all'insegna della bellezza e dell'armonia, Tutto uesto ha indotto a replicare di un'altra notte per godersi la delizia del soggiorno con un bis. Non si può non andare e conoscere di persona.
