We loved our 3 night stay. There's so much to see in Montserrat. Our room was simply, but it was clean and comfortable. We were grateful to have a room looking over the courtyard. Breakfast was great (heaps to choose from) and we enjoyed the buffet dinner twice. Sorry to leave.
WiFi wasn't great, but not unexpected in such a mountainous setting.

Our stay at Hotel Abat Cisneros Montserrat was a lovely part of our travels. Montserrat is such a distinctive destination, and staying overnight gave us the opportunity to appreciate it more fully than we could have during a brief visit. The setting made this stay feel different from the city accommodation elsewhere in our itinerary.
What stood out most was the opportunity to slow down. When travelling through several destinations, it is easy to spend much of the holiday moving between activities. Having accommodation at Montserrat allowed us to give the place more time and enjoy the experience without immediately thinking about the next journey.
The hotel suited the character of the visit well. For us, the appeal was closely connected to being in this particular setting and having a base from which to appreciate it. It was lovely to include accommodation that felt part of the destination itself, rather than simply somewhere to sleep between sightseeing stops.
An overnight visit also gave our family a welcome change of pace. We appreciated the chance to spend time together somewhere with such a strong sense of place. The surrounding landscape, unbelievable views, atmosphere, history and activities made the stay so much more memorable especially being able to access all areas of Montserrat after hours when all of the crowds and tour buses had left.
My family and I also were lucky enough to experience dinner at the Hotel in the beautiful historical building, something that is a must. In addition when staying at the hotel you can attend the choirs which are normally booked out by tour operators.
I would highly recommend staying in the Hotel and experiencing the numerous things the Monsterrat has to offer.

All in all, it's a very nice hotel in a superb location. I had stayed there 60 years ago with my grandparents and I very much enjoyed returning there with my family.
There are just a few caveats:
Firstly, if you're driving there, parking is not close but you can drive to the hotel to drop off your bags. You need to be allowed in and the guard is hidden away. We wasted 1/2 hr trying to find him, so beware.
Secondly, we noticed that in all the Spanish hotels we stayed at, a "double room" got us a room with two single beds, and a "single room" got us a room with one double bed! This is important here because the double rooms are on the view-facing side of the hotel and ours had air conditioning (important in August!), The single rooms our children got were on the rock-facing side and had no air conditioning.
Finally, we got there late and were the last ones in for dinner. It's buffet style and the food was very good but choices were limited and they started clearing the place before we were finished. At 30 Euros per person, this was the most expensive meal of our trip (we're not big eaters).
Nothing rises to the level of "didn't like".

Location
You have to park your car quite far from the property. They do let you drop off and collect your luggage but given the amount of parking spots nearby that could be utilised it feels like they are missing a trick.
Be warned - there’s no air con as at July 2026. It’s was 35 outside and difficult to sleep although they did get a fan for us when we desperately requested it.
