Hotel Columbus

Overall the hotel was nice and a very good value. I was traveling with 3 and most hotels I tried to book couldn’t accommodate 3 people and wanted to charge for an extra room. This hotel has a family room which has two rooms in one, one double and one twin. So I was able to save a great deal of money. Overall the rooms were nice. Nothing fancy but clean. Staff was very nice and try to accommodate us as much as they could. Location was excellent. Only a few minutes walk from the Frankfurt train station. Laundry service is available for 10 euros.

I think my biggest disappointment was there was no coffee, tea and hot water pot in the room. I travel a lot for work and I have stayed at many hotels over the year and this has always been included. At minimum I would have liked a hot water pot. I always like to have a cup of coffee in my room in the morning. However, the owner did comp me coffee from the dining room in the morning which was nice. Free WiFi is available but I found it to be spotty. Sometimes I had a great connection and sometimes I didn’t. As for the beds they were a little firm for my taste but not uncomfortable. The windows were a little thin and I could hear people from the pizza restaurant below. (By the way good pizza but cash only). It wasn’t loud but noticeable but didn’t really bother me. For those who are light sleeper this might be an issue but the owner did mentioned they do have quieter rooms. The surrounding area didn’t seem the safest. Drug attics could be seen near by but I was never harassed by them and there was a police station only a block away. Despite some of its short coming, overall I was happy with my stay.

Lovely breakfast available, very central location, very clean and affordable and the receptionist Ursula was an absolute gem. So helpful and friendly. Many charming restaurants close by and easy walking distance from the main station even with big suitcases. The shower was hot and the water pressure excellent.

The room was a little small but as we were only there for 2 nights it was fine. The night life on the street is a bit noisy at times.
