The staff are warm and friendly snd very helpful. The food is excellent - very authentic and staff are attentive to vegetarian requirements. The location was beautiful in the autumn colours of the forest. Onsen facilities great. Western tourists may struggle with the futon mattresses in the traditional rooms. Decor in public areas is in need of a little attention.

All staff we engaging and accommodating. Private Onsen was lovely

The rooms were spacious and comfortable. We very much enjoyed the Eastern Style bedrooms and private onsen that was onsite. The starry night tour was also a highlight, we had clear skies and we were even able to see the rings of Saturn through the provided telescope! The meals were generous which we greatly appreciated after hiking most of the day.
The facilities are a little worn but nothing beyond cosmetic issues (scuffed walls, etc.)

The shuttle service and staff, location for hiking
Considering it was the most expensive stay on our 3 week trip it was not value for money, even though it included dinner and breakfast. Our room attracted cooking smells all through the night. The hotel needs a make over really.
