The views from the location and remoteness from the tourist madness of Lipari are the main values. Claudio himself adds to the experience in his own unique way. Being up and away from the tourist mob, craziness of the city and dining at Claudio's recommend locations - which did seem authentic - were pluses. At a younger age I'd return and do more of what's available- but at nearly 80, the facilities were challenging. We boated to the other islands and drove around Lipari - trying our best to avoid the town. Canneto was a good visit for lunch. Foti rental was a good source for a rental car - nice people and just a brief walk from Liberty Lines at the port.
All my comments are offered to be constructive aids for a better visit to this beautiful location.
1. If you have mobility issues maybe don't stay in an upper apartment. The inclines will likely be too difficult. In explanation, US codes don't permit pedestrian inclines above 12.5% for historic structures (8% max for new). Here they are nearly 25% with no hand rails to reach the upper apartments. You won't be accustomed to this. I used my car to get my wife to the apartment, which worked fine. Also, step heights vary significantly, some significantly higher than others and trip points - also not to any US code.
2. Directions could be better. Following Claudio on his motorcycle there was fun, but, when I tried to repeat the path at night I missed a turn and got very lost - thankfully Claudio talked us back in. Here are my suggestions to avoid my mistakes - perhaps Claudio can correct or expand on this in his response. Use your GPS to get to Pianoconte - do not use it to go the Villa Paradiso via the short route - the road is awful - I drove it on my third day just for the fun of it (how's that Claudio ?) - it isn't fun, its annoying. Use the GPS coordiantes for Pianoconte first - then put in Villa Paradiso. That was accurate. It involves turning right off the main road at the monument to the Madonna (on the right) by turning right and continuing that right turn for about 50 feet then turning at the first left. Bear left at the next Y intersection. Continue to the property making no turns before Villa Paradiso's driveway on the left. Go left and left immediately again up the steep drives. Do not go left then right - that will take you to the wrong property.
By my third trip I could do it with my eyes closed in my manual, underpowered Panda from Foti.
Even with these idiosyncrasies, Villa Paradiso is among the top 5% of the literally hundreds of similar places my wife and I have stayed in throughtout Europe, America, Alaska and the Middle East.

The apartment is spacious and is really in a stunning location with amazing views of Lipari, Vulcano and the sea. It was easy to get around the island with a supermarket, restaurants and bus stop nearby. Claudio was a fantastic host and was very approachable and attentive when we had questions

Vila Paradiso is a real paradise. When we arrived at Lipari, Marcello picked us up from the harbour. He told us where we should eat (f.e. Ristorante Le Macine - you can eat there handmade pasta and drink local beer), what to see and where to go. He was very helpfull and kind. We borrowed a scooter from him, which made exploring the island much easier. And About the view from the terrace..BREATHTAKING!!! When you want to relax - you just go outside and lie in a hammock.
I’m sure we’ll comeback back there one day. This place is definitely worth it!

Everything!!! The view is insane and to be able to wake up to it every morning is just wonderful. The people who manage the property are so friendly and go out of their way to help you - better than a concierge! Thank you Paolo and Pippo!! The room was clean and everything was just perfect we couldn’t have asked for more :)
