Good, when it could have been great

Excellent location and view. We have lived around the Vilamoura marina in the past and we really appreciate the area. The apartment was generally good, the beds quite comfortable. Lots of stores and restaurants around. The beach is minutes away. Bus station also minutes away on foot. Kitchen fairly well equipped with the essentials.

We would have given a higher score to this apartment, what dragged the score down was the management company. First of all, a few days before our arrival (and long after the booking) we received a message that we had to register somewhere online. OK, fine, we thought, local regulations. Fine. But then we had to pledge a 300 euros deposit. This was only the second time in many years that we have been asked for deposit. The other time we were informed at the time of the booking that a deposit will be required, but this time only long after the booking. Not good. Next, the communication with the staff was quite confusing before our arrival, receiving conflicting information from different sources related to our questions. Finally, we discovered with dismay that nobody would meet us at the property and we had to go somewhere by car to get the keys, or, if we wanted someone to meet us at the apartment we had to pay 30 euros. Again very unpleasant, plus it cost us 10 euros for the Uber. Generally, the conditions in the contract we signed were extremely onerous for such an apartment in such a place, with lots of fees in place in case of this or that. What we didn't like in the apartment: there were practically almost no hooks in the bathroom to hang the towels. The sofa bed was rather soiled. And, towards the end of our stay, when we tried to clean after ourselves, we discovered a used condom on the floor of the bedroom near my side of the bed (and no, it was not ours, we don't use condoms!) (see photo). We didn't notice it at first because of the general darkness in the bedroom and particularly in that corner. But it's still unacceptable.

Convenient location, great space but very noisy at night till late hours everyday.

The apartment itself is clean and matches the photos, so no complaints there. The view is great and having a supermarket next door is genuinely useful. The location is convenient because it’s opposite the marina so a lot of things to do and places to visit are within walking distance.

The noise levels make it hard to recommend, non-stop partying until the early hours. If you’re a light sleeper, this is not the place for you. There are also a lot of rules and restrictions that make the whole experience feel more stressful than it should. For two nights it was manageable, but I wouldn’t stay longer. My flight landed after check-in hours, I had to travel to a separate location 10 minutes away just to collect a key from a lockbox. Not ideal after a long journey.
