Golfetmer

Me and my partner had a great time at Golfetmer. Valerie's home is beautiful and she is a gracious host. She gave us excellent recommendations for restaurant and daily excursions in the area. The location makes it easy to visit regional landmarks like Biarrtiz, Saint Jean de Luz, Rhune Train, Espelette and more. Just make sure you have a car! Valerie served us fresh breakfast in the morning and adjusted it to our preference and even baked us cakes. Her dog greeted us every morning. Our room was large and had all the accessories we needed. The house is built out of stone which kept the indoor temperature nice and cool even during the warmest summer nights.

Zeer attente en goedlachse gastvrouw Valérie. We konden gratis voor de deur parkeren. We kregen een gratis upgrade naar de grotere kamer, omdat deze beschikbaar was. We kwamen aan in de regen en Valérie bracht ons direct een paraplu, zodat we droog onze bagage uit konden laden. De kamer was ruim en mooi, voorzien van een fijne badkamer en een keukentje met koelkast, oven, kookplaat met 2 pitten, magnetron en alle benodigde keukengerei en serviesgoed en allerhande apparatuur. Daarna verwelkomde ze ons met verse koffie en lekkernijen en gaf ons advies voor een goed visrestaurant. De volgende ochtend werden we verwend met een voortreffelijk ontbijt, met huisgemaakte yoghurt, croissants, marmelades, crepes, fruit, jus d’orange, koffie, stokbrood en kaas op onze kamer (roomservice :-))! De lieve labradoedel Uzi verblijde ons af en toe met zijn gezelschap. Ik zou graag nog eens terugkomen als ik weer in deze regio ben en kan Golfetmer van harte aanbevelen. Ik geef een dikke 10 aan deze gastvrouw.

De afstandbediening van de dvd-recorder ontbrak, waardoor we de ondertiteling niet op een andere taal konden zetten. Mijn begrip van de Franse taal was ontoereikend om de film in het Frans te kunnen volgen. Maar fijne conversatie, muziek luisteren, spelletjes doen en een mooi boek lezen waren goede alternatieven. Het regenachtige weer nodigde niet uit om het zwembad te gebruiken.

Fabulous welcome from Valerie and Uzi! Lovely location just out of the town and super dog friendly. Very clean and comfortable with everything that you could want , wonderfully quiet and peaceful with a great home made breakfast. I loved it !!

Location was quiet and peaceful. The backyard was lovely even though it was rainy season and we didn't spend much time outside. The property itself is lovely.

We weren't able to get in touch very well with the owner during the stay - we sent emails and whatsapp messages, trying to be able to pay for the room since the owner wanted us to pay in cash (only option). We were trying to pay and finally were able to the day before our last day. When we first arrived, the owner wasn't there and her mother ended up letting us in; luckily we weren't in a rush or anything, but we waited for the owner to get back from the beach and show us to our room. Communication was a bit difficult since the owner spoke little English, but we used translation apps on our phones to connect live. The internet also went out some of the time while we were there; this was unfortunate because we were counting on the wifi to be able to work. The room had cobwebs and spiders in the corners and bathroom - it seemed like it wasn't deep cleaned very well. Overall it was an OK stay. Wouldn't stay again but it wasn't horrible.
