We love the hospitality of the staff. They were very accommodating, polite and courteous. We love the building itself with its history. We were happy to find out they offer a tour of the hotel. I wish they made this tour known to the guests and not waiting for the guests to enquire.
The location was excellent. The hotel is on Tunjungan Plaza and there was a lot of shops around. Tunjungan Plaza Mall is just a few minutes away by walking.
We love the experience of staying at a historical building.
The bathroom: the toilet seat, the bidet and the bath tub. The smell from the bathroom drains. The beddings. I feel the room is not maintained well in terms of cleanliness and hygiene.
The breakfast spread needs to be improved.

Room was very nice, we received an Upgrade. The building was very impressive and traditional. Personel were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good too.
We missed a higher Level restaurant in the hotel. Hotel was on top Niveau and deserves a top restaurant. Sarkies has been closed down, only used for functions

I would like to raise a concern regarding how a very minor incident during my stay was handled.
There was an accidental menstrual stain of approximately 1 cm on the bedsheet and mattress. I understand that stains may require cleaning, but I was surprised to be told that this was considered “damage” and that I would be charged IDR 500,000, with the explanation that the mattress needed special cleaning and the room had to be closed.
I found this response highly disproportionate, especially from a 5-star hotel. I eventually cleaned the mattress myself with warm water and tissue, and the stain was completely removed. I also asked the bedsheet to be returned to me for cleaning, but they didnt returned it.
What disappointed me most was the lack of communication and the tone of the staff, which felt rather accusatory, as though I had caused a significant inconvenience. There was also no prior discussion or clear information regarding the IDR 500,000 charge.
I believe the charge is excessive for such a small and completely removable stain, and I expected a more considerate staffs approach from a 5-star hotel.
